Down Syndrome Awareness

Jessi Dolnik - Monday, March 18, 2019

World Down Syndrome Day is a day to raise awareness about Down Syndrome. It is observed annually on March 21st. Why March 21st? Down Syndrome is a genetic mutation that creates an extra 21st chromosome. This is why World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated on 3/21.

World Down Syndrome Day is also known as crazy sock day. Wearing crazy socks is one way to help spread awareness about Down Syndrome, and the best place to get your crazy socks is from John’s Crazy Socks. John’s Crazy Socks is a father-son venture inspired by co-founder John Lee Cronin, a young man with Down syndrome. They sell all different types of fun and crazy socks. They also give back to the community through their business. They donate 5 percent of our earnings to the Special Olympics as they’ve played a vital role in John’s development. They also give portions of their “awareness” theme socks to different organizations. Check out their website below to order your crazy socks!
